"My friend received the gift yesterday, beautifully wrapped and with a lovely gift tag! She loved it!"

Karen Green, a botanical artist, is the director of The Painter's Pantry.  Alongside her art, she creates beautiful hand-made gifts for artists and creative people.

It all began in 2011, after making a sudden, yet positive, decision to leave full-time teaching, she moved to the unique town of Stroud, set in one of the green valleys of the Cotswolds, to immerse herself into an artist's community.

She exhibits her artwork at galleries around Gloucestershire and shows and sells her work in many craft fayres.  The 'wraps' developed after making one for herself from scraps of fabric, to protect her own brushes.  As an artist herself, she knows the importance of looking after brushes and keeping your tools organised and safe.

Karen studied a Foundation Art Diploma at Brighton and Hove College in 2003 and then achieved a First Degree BA (Hons) at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth in 2007.  She studied Costume for Screen & Stage, using her love of fabrics and skill for sewing.

She spent several years, after graduating, traveling the world, and was inspired by the people she met and the cultures she immersed herself in.  This was when she began seriously painting larger figurative oil paintings.  It was in 2014, she focused and developed her work in the art of botanical water-colours.

Working with children had always been an aspiration and she completed her PGCE teaching qualification in 2009.  However, teaching did not allow her the time to dedicate to art and craft.

Karen has a studio in a wooden cabin down by the river in Brimscombe, Stroud.  If you would like to visit her at her studio please contact her via the website or send an email to:
